Facilities and services
The School of Chemistry has a wide range of facilities and services, available for use by staff and students. These services support students in their learning and assist staff in undertaking their research.
Chemistry IT
The Faculty of Science's IT division is responsible for the installation, support and disposal of computers and printers, documentation, network access, file serving, web hosting and backups. We also provide advice to Chemistry staff and students about best practice and the effective use of technology.
Our main goal is to provide support to staff and students in a standard format to best assist the School of Chemistry in its teaching and research activities. Services levels are defined and published in the IT Service Level Agreement.
The School of Chemistry requires a diverse IT environment, from desktop SOE to highly specialized instrumentation based computing. FoS IT is able to provide expert advice and assistance to all School of Chemistry IT activities.
Our offices are located in RM 372 in the Masson Building.

Library resources
The library has many useful tools including links to data sources, such as finding properties of materials, including the density, melting point or toxicity of a compound. A list of these data sources is available.

The library staff are available to support you in your studies, teaching and research. They endeavour to maintain journal and book collections relevant and adequate to the teaching and research interests of the School of Chemistry staff and students. They also assist with access to the most essential research databases. The Chemistry librarian is Jacintha Silva.
Store
The Chemistry store provides products to the School, as well as other approved customers, that assist with teaching and research.
Workshop
The School has several in-house workshop facilities, which provide services to staff and students.
Research facilities
The School of Chemistry has access to a wide range of modern research instruments and facilities.
Student services
There are a wide range of services available to students at the University - specific course-related services provided at the School level, as well as general services available to all students.
